HISTORY & OBJECTIVE

The Communications Association of Hong Kong (formerly known as Internet & Telecom Association of Hong Kong (2000-2006), Telecom Association of Hong Kong (1995-2000), Hong Kong Telecom Association (1983-1995) is a non-profit making organisation incorporated on 27 May 1983 following the announcement of deregulation of the communication products and services. CAHK is the association for Hong Kong's communications industries, with responsibilities across broadcasting, wireline and wireless communications, and other relevant business sectors in the domain of information communications technology (ICT).


 

The main objectives of the Association are:

to organise formal and informal functions to provide networking and sharing opportunities for members of the Association to meet each other and explore business opportunities;to promote the consideration and discussion of all questions affecting all areas of the communications industry and generally to safeguard and protect the interests, intellectual property rights of its members engaged in such industry or in such promotions;to encourage the industry to develop and comply with industry code of practice, technical and operational standards to maintain high standard of business and professional ethics and to discourage and suppress mal-practices that may be harmful to the communications industry as well as to the business, community and public at large;

to provide legitimate and competent representations to various HKSAR Government Departments or other industry organizations for the communications industry;to educate, improve and elevate the technical and general knowledge of persons engaged in, or about to engage in the trade or the promotion of the communications industry or in any employment in connection with the industries; to produce useful information, research and statistic in connection with the communications industry, and to promote the industry image and members of the Association to local and overseas industry.
